“Why do you call Me Lord and do not do what I say?”
Millions of people call Jesus the Lord, or their Savior, but it seems like the majority of those millions want to hear what someone other than Jesus has to say. Bookstores “sell” millions of books to “followers of Jesus”, Christian ministries “sell” millions of books and audio recordings of their teachings, we read untold amounts of information on the internet searching for answers to our questions and problems, etc.
But, whatever happened to the work of the Holy Spirit? Isn’t He supposed to be our Teacher of all things?
We Christians run to and fro searching for our next “fix” of information or knowledge about the Father, the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Church, etc.
WE DON’T NEED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT HIM!
WE NEED TO SPEND TIME WITH HIM AND GET TO KNOW HIM!
Jesus is the vine from which LIFE come from. He told us to abide in the vine. When we run around searching for information about Him and His work we are not abiding in Him we are accumulating “knowledge” or “information” and trying to gain LIFE from the wrong tree – the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil from which we forbidden to eat.
