THE COST OF FOLLOWING JESUS

We   modern day preachers stress the ease of becoming a Christian, but is what we present as truth the real truth?  TRUTH IS DISCOVERED, NOT INVENTED!

The Lord Jesus never tried to coax men into a glib profession of faith.  Neither did He seek to attract a large following by preaching a popular message.  In fact, whenever people began to swarm after Him, He would turn to them and sift them by setting forth the sternest terms of discipleship.

How many people would come to an alter call for salvation if the preacher said the words of Jesus:  “So likewise, whosoever he be of you that does not foresake all that he has, cannot be My disciple.”  Luke 14:33.

The cost of true salvation is “everything” —  all a person has or is.

The terms for entering the kingdom of God is to “repent” from the old self-centered life in the kingdom of darkness,  die to your old life through water baptism, rise up out of the baptismal waters and receive the life (zoe) of God by the Holy Spirit, be “born again” into a new creation in Him, and begin a new life of commitment and obedience to King Jesus.

Anything less than this is not salvation according to the Scriptures.

Give me your thoughts on this.

THE FOUNDATIONS OF SAND OR ROCK

This article dealing with your foundations in life is especially important because it shows you why the people of God seem not to grow up in their walk with God, but simply stay the same year after year.

MATTHEW 7:24-29 — “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and ACTS upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall.’ And the result was that when Jesus had finished these words, the multitudes were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority and not as their scribes.”

JAMES 1:22 — “But prove yourselves “DOERS” of the Word, not hearers only who delude themselves.”

Jesus did not teach like the Scribes, He did not come to deliver speeches, but to make disciples and then He gave us the same commission as His ambassadors. He did not say “Go and deliver speeches,” but, “Go and MAKE DISCIPLES.”

It isn’t by hearing that someone learns, or creates a strong foundation in life, it is through PRACTICE.

Suppose that a piano teacher would use the same system of teaching that the church uses. He would have a big hall with pews and from 150 to 500 students sitting to hear a lesson. The teacher would have a large grand piano on the platform and he would play the piano so that the student could hear him. At the end of the lesson everyone would be saying, “What a beautiful lesson! Wasn’t the lesson great?” And then the students would come every Sunday morning and evening and one day during the week to hear another lesson. Thirty years could go by this way and yet nobody would be able to play the piano, because it isn’t by hearing that one learns but through PRACTICE. The church is the only institution that uses a non-functioning learning system. That is to say, THE HEARING ONLY SYSTEM.

This system of learning keeps the people of God in a perpetual state of non-functioning spiritual children. They do not grow to spiritual maturity because they have a head full of information, but no practical experience, no rock foundation. For example, how many of you reading this have ever been trained to cast out a demon, or to heal the sick, or to disciple a new believer, or to go lead a hard-core sinner to Jesus, or to use your faith to receive from God, or to be overwhelmingly more than a conqueror, or to train others to do the same, etc?

Jesus said that if we hear His words and don’t DO THEM we are building our lives on a weak sand foundation that will erode when the hard times come against us. But if we hear His words and PRACTICE DOING THEM we will be building our lives on a solid rock foundation that will stand when the storms of life come against us.

The entire goal of a person who teaches is to get the student to do what is being taught. If there is no doing, then there is no real learning and the teacher has no real authority in the life of the student. Remember when you went to school to learn math? The teacher showed you how to do the problems, but then gave “homework” so you had to “practice” the process for solving the math problems. This is how you learned. If you ever played football you had to practice the plays all week before you actually got into the game. Why do we think learning to live in the kingdom of God is any different?

The way discipleship really works is when a person is being discipled they give authority to the person doing the discipling. This is the concept of submission. I submit to my discipler because they now have authority in my life to give me commands or instructions TO DO certain things so that I will actually learn how to do them through practice. If I refuse to do the lessons I am being given then I will not learn and the discipler will not go on to the next lesson. This is the way Jesus taught His disciples.

He taught them by giving them commands to do certain things in order to learn the lessons He was trying to train them with and build a strong foundation in their lives for when He would be gone. Jesus required OBEDIENCE so that His disciples could be trained and learn the ways of the kingdom.

For example, “Zacchaeus, come down, hurry up” was a command. It was an order, not a speech.

“Matthew, follow Me, etc.”

“Go to a certain city; greet the people in such a way; preach thusly; don’t take any money with you; don’t charge money for healing; don’t go to the Gentiles, yet”; go find Me a donkey; etc.

All of these were commands that had to be obeyed.

James said that if we hear and don’t do, then we are deceiving ourselves. We think we know more than we actually do because we have no practical experience.

This is why Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples. Discipleship is the venue for people to be able to practice what they are learning and then go and perform this same process with others. Remember, Paul taught Timothy, Timothy was to teach faithful men, and the faithful men were to teach others. This is multiplying effect of discipleship.

Who is discipling you by equipping you to do the work of the ministry? Who is training you in your Christian life and helping you to build a strong foundation?   If no one is, then go to your pastor and ask him to either disciple you or assign someone he has discipled to equip you. This is actually the primary ministry of a pastor according to EPHESIANS 4:11-16.

What is Happenning in Our World?

Brothers and Sisters,

We are at war!!!!  Not with one nation against another, or rioting in the streets, or wicked politians doing unbelieveably stupid things, or any other human  happening.  We are at war with unseen powers that are manipulating all of these worldly disasterous happenings.

Ephesians 6:12 says, For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

The reason all the evil is happening in our world is because of an ineffective Church and it must stop or the world is doomed.

The only hope for this world we live in is for the Body of Christ to rise up and takes its place in this world and begin to battle against these unseen forces and solidify the victory that Jesus won at the cross of Calvary.  We are to be about destroying the works of Satan and his kingdom of darkness, but instead we sit inside the four walls of our chuches singing songs, listening to nice sermons, and rocking away waiting for the rapture to snatch us out of here.  Where are the saints of God that have the same heart for the people of this world that He has.  He died an excrutiating death so the people of this world could be born again and saved from this world that is under the dominion of Satan, the god of this world.

Pastors and evangelist should be preaching and demonstrating that the kingdom of God is at hand with power and miracles, not simply tickling the ears of the listens with how much God loves them and wants to bless them and give them favor.  We are to be equipping the saints of God to do the works of King Jesus and set the captives free from under Satan’s control, not just stroking their head and constantly trying to comfort people who are simply not willing to do what is required as a follower of Jesus.

We are to be “over-comers” which means we must be in a battle in order to overcome something or someone.

Revelations 12:11 — “And they overcame him ( Satan )because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even unto death.”

I am convinced that the Church in our culture has not been effective because we have not heard the truth that we are to “repent and believe for the kingdom of God is at hand” and what it really means when we say that “Jesus Christ is Lord” over all. We have not been adequately confronted with the truth of the kingdoms that are in conflict and our roles in it. We don’t understand the real difference between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. We do not really believe and act like we are “new creations in Christ” because of the new covenant. These comments are accurate because I see them demonstrated throughout our culture and the church world. Here are some examples:

  • Our disunity
  • Our greed
  • Our pride
  • Our love of material possessions
  • Our love of pleasure
  • Our unwillingness to sacrifice
  • Our praylessness ( except for ourselves and our blessings)
  • Our simply not wanting to rock Satan’s boat
  • We demonstrate no real zeal for the power of God in our lives

IT is a tragedy, but very true.

MORE EXAMPLES OF AN INEFFECTIVE CHURCH:

  • As millions of unborn babies are slaughtered through abortion – almost 50,000,000 since 1973
  • As homosexuality and perversion are being thrust upon our country
  • As addictions are soaring to unprecedented magnitudes
  • As women are become more and more militant
  • As our culture is being stripped of all reminders of our Christian heritage
  • As our children’s minds are being polluted and programed by godless humanistic philosophies in our government controlled public schools
  • As godless Marxist and socialist government are being thrust upon us
  • As the Bible’s infallibility is challenged in many mainline denominations
  • As homosexuals are being ordained to lead mainline churches
  • As Eastern religions thrive in our culture
  • As Satanism and witchcraft are exploding by tremendous numbers
  • As our government leaders are becoming more and more unrighteous in their manner of governing
  • And as we are losing our children to the ways of the kingdom of darkness rather than leading them to Jesus

WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE OF GOD THAT CLAIM TO BE CHRISTIANS WHO ARE TO BE THE “SALT” THAT HOLDS BACK CORRUPTION, AND THE “LIGHT” THAT PENETRATES THE DARKNESS OF UNGODLY ACTIVITIES TO EXPOSE THEM?

WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE OF GOD THAT ARE ACTIVELY TEARING DOWN THE STRONGHOLDS OF UNGODLY CORRUPTION?

WHERE ARE THEY?????
